Opus 1

Three minuets, written between 2011 and 2013, on an instrument I was still arguing with. The recordings are mine and they are not studio takes; you can hear the room. The scores are here to be played, so take them if you want them.

  1. No. 1

    Minueto in E major

    Allegro · 2011

    0:00 / 1:02

    Score, PDF

The first one, and it sounds like a first one: the right hand does almost all the talking and the left keeps a strict minuet under it. I have left it as written rather than fixing it up later, because the earnestness is the point.

  2. No. 2

    Minueto in G minor

    Andante · 2012

    0:00 / 1:19

    Score, PDF

The one that gets away from the dance. It opens with a run that accelerates against the pulse, and the middle section stops being a minuet altogether before the form pulls it back.

  3. No. 3

    Minueto in C major

    Andante · 2013

    0:00 / 1:41

    Score, PDF

The longest and the plainest, in the key with nothing to hide behind. Marked grazioso, which is a note to the player about restraint more than about speed.

The waveforms are measured from the recordings, not drawn to look busy. Scores are free to play, perform and record.
